H. F. Bradby (Capt.) : A quite exceptional school bat, with wonderful hitting powers and strong defence ; played splendidly at Lord's ; fair change bowler and excellent field ; very successful captain . *F. D. North : Stylish bat, with plenty of confidence ; very fair fast bowler, but rather erratic ; good field anywhere . C. W. Bengough : Good slow bowler , with high delivery ; gets a good lot of work on a ball on a wicket that suits him, and has a fair pitch , and varies the pitch well ; poor bat ; was unable to play at Lord's ; Capt. for 1886. F. E. Gaddum: Patient bat, with very sound defence, but lacks punishing power ; very fair field , and can bowl as a change . *A. D. Bateson : Pretty bat, with fine late cut, and a good field at point . G. F. Jackson : Disappointing bat, can hit hard, but has not enough patience ; is apt toplay across in playing back ; useful change bowler . P. W. Boughton -Leigh : Very steady bat, with a good off -drive ; good ground field . *C. M. Blunt : A taking bat, playing very straight ; can bowl a little , and is a fair out-field . H. C. Bradby ; A reliable bat, but his style is stiff ; played excellently at Lord's ; safe field , but does not cover muchground. W. Bowden-Smith : Moderate bat ; wouldplay better with more confidence ; good field at cover point . R. A. Wilson : Promising medium-pace bowler , not afraid of pitching the ball up; poor bat . *L.
