Ford (Captain ) : A magnificent school bat, withgood defence and style , and marvellous powers of punishing ; a most consistent scorer on all wickets , playing the game thoroughly ; as a bowler im- proved very muchin steadiness , and on some wickets was almost unplayable ; a good field anywhere , but especially in the slips ; Captain for 1886. W. Agar : Asteady bat with good defence and unwearied patience , with careful practice ought to become good, though he will always be weakon the off -side ; amoderate field . A. Jardine : Played excellent cricket at the end of the season ; ought to growinto a really good m a n, if he will only learn to stand up to bowling ; fields capitally in the country . *A. S. Webb : A rash hitter ; usually got some runs, andwasveryuseful ; adashing field with a safe pair of hands. *J. R. Jackson : Bowls fast and straight , sometimes difficult ,but must use his head more if he is to
