G. von Voigt : Has improved greatly as a bat lately , coming off just when wanted; a good field , with good return, and generally a safe catch . G. H. Nelson : Has never recovered his form of 1883 ; takes the gloves fairly behind the wickets ; hits very hard, but has nodefence . C. S. Langley : Hasfallen off a good deal fromhis last year's form; played one or two good innings , but is not nearly so consistent a scorer as last year ; a good field and catch anywhere. R. H. Moss : Hasbowled better lately , but has been much helped by the bumpy ground , getting many wickets off short pitched balls ; must be more careful about pitch ; hits hard, but is too reckless , and consequently very rarely comes off . M. M. Barker : Hasimproved as a bat, and has played some good innings ; must be morecareful to play straight ; a first -rate field at cover , and very safe and brilliant catch ; has on more than one occasion done good service as a bowler. A. Moultric : H a s improved decidedly as a bat , playing less recklessly ; occasionally bowls fairly , but tries to bowl too fast ; a poor field . G. R. Theobald : The most improved memberof the eleven ; a good mediumoverhand bowler, with plenty of spin ; hits clean andhard, but is rather too anxious to score at once ; not quite safe at short -slip . C. B. Peachey : Has batted fairly well ; rather inclined to get his legs in the wayof the wicket ; a very fair field , and generally a safe catch ; must learn to play back more; should practice bowling . L. Byass : Hasmade great progress as a bat during the term; plays very straight , and is strong on the off, having a remarkably good drive ; must get stronger on his leg stump, and should be very useful next year ; has been known to bowl; a poor field , with very slow return . T. R. Spyers : Has hardly fulfilled his promise of early in the season ; seemed to lose the art of keeping wicket through hurting his hand ; a very slow field ; plays with a straight bat, but lacks power. C. T. Little : Avery good field andcatch , with capital return ; a fair change bowler ; n ob a t.
