Boosey : Has not donehimself justice this year, though in practice his form is good ; does not judge the ball accurately , and has been often bowled by a ball that in practice he could easily play ; apt to get the ball up in the slips ; capital field and keen cricketer . *J. E. Aldridge : A fair bat, though he has the fault , not an uncommonone, of not bringing the full face of the bat to the ball , and so hitting up in the slips ; good field , and with pains wouldimprove muchin batting . *J. Carter : A good bat whenset , but is aptto get nervous , and hit at everything , which generally results in his being caught or stumped; a splendid long-stop, the best we have had for some years ; slow betweenthe wickets . *A. Pritt : A good bat, with plenty of confidence ; has a very fine leg-stroke , and maygenerally be relied onfor some runs ; at times his fielding nearly approaches brilliancy , but does not always do so. V. M. de Bar- tolomé : A very promising bat, with a very pretty cut ; a good long stop , but exceedingly slow in the field ; hardly able to cover any ground on either side ; slow between the wickets , and a bad judge of a run ; knowsa good deal about the game, and should , with the help of Arber's judgment, make a good captain next year . W. J. Wippell : Agood bowler on his day ; also a good field , and with practice might be taught to hit ; is very apt to lose his head, andbowl faster whenhit, thereby losing his pitch ; though a very poor judge of the game, he ought to back Bartolomé up and be useful next year . *H. Kempson : A strong though by no means pretty bat, but maybe generally relied on for a few runs; has hadthe misfortune to be placed at a wicket for a great manymatches ; though easily the best wicket keeper in the eleven , he is far from good ; a capital field anywhere ; also a good judge of a run. M. B. Johnson : A very fair bowler on a sticky wicket , with a certain amountof work on the ball , but utterly useless on adry wicket ; he can hardly be called a bat ; is slow in the field , and between the wickets . *C. H Tinsley (12th) : Cangenerally stick a little while , and some- times makea few runs, but plays very poor cricket ; should learn to keep his legs clear of the wicket ; a slow field . *O. J. Bell : Though he has madebut few runs in college matches is a very nice bat, and has mademanyfair scores in club games ; though handicapped by want of reach , is infinitely a better cricketer than Johnson and Tinsley ; in a few years will probably be heard of in higher fields.
