Fowler : Is a good medium-pace bowler with considerable break and spin , and sometimes very deceptive ; a fine hard-hitting bat , but rather wanting in patience and defence ; a good field ; the eleven was very successful under his captaincy . *G. M. King: A hard hitter , but often did not wait for the right ball to hit ; he was sometimes useful as achange bowler (slow round ) ; kept wicket very pluckily , and with some success . *C. Cuyler : A very steady and good left-handed bat; was unfortunately hin- dered from practising during some part of the season byan injured hand ; agood field . *E. G. Mayo: Bowled very well at the beginning of the season , with good length andadifficult action ; bats in cramped style , but has agooddefence andplays very steadily ; a good field . D. G. M. Campbell : Bats very steadily and carefully , butwants freedom ; a good field at point . *G. T. Gerds : A plucky anddetermined bat, though sometimes inclined to be careless ; pulled morethan one match out ofthe fire ; was sometimes successful with slow round bowling, and is a good field . J. R. Head: Is avery promising bat, and will be very good if he canget rid of his weakness on leg stump; a fair change bowler and good field . L. E.
