Bidwell (Capt) : Has had a great deal of disappointment to contend with as captain , but was not so successful as at football in putting life and energy into the games ; hits very well indeed all round, buthas not improved on his last year's form, and is far too fond of a slog ; owing to injured hands was unable to keep wicket . *H. N. Paine : Did notfulfil our hopes as a bowler ; only on rare occasions has he shown anything like the form we expected of him ; has at last learnt to play forward a little , and m a ybecome a dangerous batsman ; a very fine field anywhere, his brilliancy in this department almost atoning for his failure as a bat and bowler . V. S. Menzies : Thebest bat we have had for a goodmanyyears ; plays very straight , and can bat remarkably well on both sides of the wicket , but is rather apt to get under long hops on the off ; has at times bowled slows with some success , and will, if he practises , be of great use to the school .
