Bastard (Sherborne and W a d h a m) : A good slow left -handedbowler ; batted pluckily in the University match, though h eis very moderate in that department and also in fielding . J. H. Brain (Clifton and Oriel ) : A fine bat whenhe gets runs, with a good upright style ; wasvery unfortunate in the middle of the season ; a magnificent field andcan keep wicket . T. C. O'Brien (Private and NewInn Hall ) : A very good bat , hitting splendidly all -round, was not at first in his best form, owing to being unable to practice ; a capital field . L. D. Hildyard (Private and Magdalen) : Batted wonderfully well for the University , and fielded beautifully at point all through the season . K. J. Key (Clifton and Oriel ) : A very hard hitting bat, with good defence if hechooses , as he watches the ball well ; a good ground . d, andhas improved in catching . A. E. Newton (Eton and Pembroke) :
