Asteady bat, with good defensive powers . Hits well on the off -side . Bowls slow round arm very accurately , with a deceptive rise . A fine fielder , excelling at point andmid-off. WILLIAMBROCKIE, JUN.-GermantownClub. Born June8, 1864. Bats in free style , but safely . A first -class fielder , throwing well and catching to perfection . Does not bowl. H A Z E NB R O W N.-YoungAmerica Club (nowplaying with the Pittsburg Club). Born October 31, 1862. Hasnot a taking style with the bat, but is very patient , and can hit hard. The wicket-keeper of the team. Stands several yards backfor the fast deliveries of LawandC. A. Newhall, but is quick when standing over the wicketfor the slows. E D W A R DW. CLARK, J U N.-YoungAmerica Club. Born May17, 1857 . Aplucky bat, possessing a fine defence and great punishing power whenset. Plays an uphill game well . Bowls right handed, mediumpace, with a curl from theleg. Is quite up to the average of the teamin the field . JOSEPHM. F o x.-MerionClub. Born February 4,1853 . Aright-handed fast bowler, varying his pace and pitch without changing his delivery . A left- handedbat, not very finished in style , but a sure run-getter . A fine point ,being quickonhis feet and sure on the sharp catches . SUTHERLANDL A W.--- Merion Club. BornJune 19, 1853. Agood all -round m a n. A very careful bat, but whenhe is set punishes loose bowling severely . Bowls with great speed and accuracy . Notwithstanding his pace is a good stayer . Fields at cover -point and long-off very smartly , with a fine return . W I L L I A MC. L O W R Y.-Merion Club. Born June 11, 1860. Bowls slow left -hand round arm, with a good break from the leg and a peculiar hang. O n his day and wicket is very difficult . A nactive fielder , being the fastest runner and quickest thrower in the team. Is a poor bat. H O W A R DM A C N U T T.- YoungAmerica Club. Born June 13, 1859. Bowls fast round , very straight , with a high delivery , and rises sharply from the pitch . Covers a great deal of ground in the field , and throws extremely well . A fair andimproving bat. W I L L I A MC. M O R G A N, J U N.-GermantownClub. Born Jan. 31, 1865. Bats in very correct style , with a stubborn defence , but can hit well to leg , and hasa good " cut." Is slow in the field . CHARLESA. N E W H A L L.-Young American Club. Born March 3, 1847. W a sformerly the fastest bowler in America, and although he has lost some of his old pace, nevertheless is still very effective with the ball , getting a good breakback on the best wickets . A sturdy bat, obtaining runs frequently , but not in a finished style . Slowin the field . ROBERTS. NEWHALL(Captain ).-Young America Club . Born Sept. 16, 1851. A fine bat, hitting with great freedom in all directions . Has led the averages in Philadelphia for some years . In 1878 obtained a very well -hit 84 against the Australians . Does not bowl , but is a brilliant fielder , excelling at the boundary. J. ALLISONSCOTT.-BelmontClub. BornMay20, 1865. Is the youngest memberof the team, but on this season's form is the best bat of the lot . Has a very strong defence , and hits cleanly all round. His cut from the bails is extremely good. Is an excellent fielder , and can keep the wicket if needed. DAVIDP. STOEVER.-Belmont Club. Born April 6, 1863. Bats care- fully , but in a style which is ungraceful and cramped. Is nevertheless a frequent scorer . Bowls fast round , with a high delivery and a good break from the off . Fields fairly , and is improving . JOHNB. T H A Y E R, JUN.-Merion Club. Born April 21, 1862. Bats in finished style , and, with more patience , would be the best in the team in that
