CHRISTOPHERSON, S. (Uppingham). A good fast bowler ; was very effective es at times during the season ; played for England v. Australia at Lord's ; ofgreat use to the County ; moderate bat ; good field . E D W A R D S, W. Played towards the end of last season , andproved useful both withbat and ball ; a keen and hard-working cricketer . FOORD-KELCEY, W. (Eton and Oxford ). A very dangerous bowler , on a O queer wicket ; hits freely ; well set ; does not play much first -class cricket n o w . HARRIS, Lord (Eton and Oxford ) . A fine bat, playing in excellent style and hitting with great freedom ; a fine field with a very smart return ; played w i t hconsistentbrilliancelast season. JONES, R. S. (Cambridge) . A nexcellent bat, with great defence ; a good out- field and safe catch ; only able to play rarely for the County. LIPSCOMB, F. A fast bowler ; onhis day very effective ; nits hard at times . MACKINNON, F. A. (Harrow and Cambridge ). Asteady and safe bat ; played morethan one fine innings for the County; moderate field . PATTERSON, W. H. (Harrow and Oxford ), a very fine defensive bat ; good field ; can bowl a little ; only able to play late in the season ; showed extra- ordinary defence against Surrey at the Oval. P E N N, A. A good slow left -hand round-arm bowler , with plenty of judgment; improved as a bat; good field ; played very little for the County. T H O R N T O N, R E V. R. T. (Oxford). Bats in peculiar form, but a difficult wicket toget; goodfield . TYLECOTE, . F. S. (Clifton and Oxford). A very keen cricketer ; good bat, with defence and no meanhitting power ; an excellent wicket -keeper , standing up pluckily to the fastest bowling ; was absent most of last season . (H o n. Ivo Bligh's Australian Team, 1883) . WILSON, C. (Cambridge ). Avery useful all round cricketer ; fine bat ; play- ing very hard on the ball ; able to play little . W I L S O N. L. Though not quite so successful as of old , is still a dangerous bat, and at times punishes loose bowling heavily ; splendid field and sure catch ; is also an excellent and persevering Captain . 1 0 K E R S H A W, J. E. Avery good bat indeed ; drives well to the off ; good field . LANCASHIRE, O. P. (Rossall and Cambridge ). Has much improved in batting ; madesome good scores last season ; plays in good form, and drives well ; is also a good field . LEESE, E. (Manchester ). Avery fair bat and fast run-getter on a hard ground ; good field ; requires a little moreconfidence . field : equires PAYNE, J. H. Avery fair bat , and drives well ; is also a good wicket -keeper a n dfair field. R O P E R, E. (Clifton ). A very good bat and field , and plays in good form ; fair change bowler, and good field . ROYLE, REV. V. (Rossall and Oxford ) . Still keeps up his batting reputation , playing with great success in August matches ; fields as brilliantly as ever at cover-point. STEEL, A. G. (Marlborough and Cambridge ). A first -class all -round cricketer , equally good at all points ; played some fine innings against the Australians ,
