Gaisford (17) : a very promising bat, with goodstyle anda pretty cut, though rather too anxious to score ; smart field . C. F. Garnett (16) : a good bat, with splendid driving powers ; good change bowler ; fair field . S. J. Wheble (14) : greatly improved in his bowling this year, with a puzzling break ; uncertain bat; workshardin the field , anda sure catch . C. Throckmorton (14) : good point ; promising bat, with a good cut, but might use his height to muchbetter advantage. M.A. Martinez deHoz(9) : a good fast bowler ; a fair field , and hits well whenset. L. de Las Casas (9) : promising young colt ; a fair bat ; is smart field with a sharp return . G. H. Cary- Elwes(7) : very good wicket-keeper ; has proved himself very useful to the eleven this year ; promising bat with good defence . A. Austin -Jackson (5) : was unable to do himself full justice owing to accidents in the field ; has nevertheless done good service , notably v. Orleans C.C. , whenhe accomplished the hat trick ; good catch ; should keep to hitting . H o n. E. Stonor (4) : can hit a little ; fair long-stop,butmustlearn to throw. D. C.
