Colours, chocolate and white . ELEVENIN 1884.-J. L. Reed, captain (13) : Madea very goodanduseful captain , taking great pains ; muchimproved as a bat, butwas out several times bybad luck ; very useful as a bowler, and a smart field . W. C. Renouf (18) : A goodsteady bat, but lacks dash ; should play a great deal harder on the ball ; useful as a change bowler , and is a fair field ; played a good and useful innings two or three times whenruns were much wanted . G. Lance (8) : A very painstaking bat ; would probably havemademore runs by playing a free and bolder game. *F. Maw(8) : Very disappointing as a bat, partly owing to nervousness , partly to impatience ; kept wicket fairly for his first season. H. V. Carrington ( 5) : Has made very few runs during the season; plays too slowly on the ball . E. J. Leech ( 14 ) : Occasionally a very useful , if not an elegant , bat; as a bowler generally successful -o ntwo occasions remarkably so. J. M. Robin (3) : Can field well , and is a safe catch ; as a bat has no defence whatever, though he seems to play witha straight bat. P. B. Chambers (7) : Owingto illness did not play much; weakboth inbatting andbowling . V. H. Reed (4) : Verypromising youngster as abat ; already bowls well, and is an excellent field . H. Snell (6) : Has not done as well as he might ; is too utterly reckless to be relied on, though he once played up well at apinch ; canbowl and field , andmight makea useful m a n. H. Spencer (4) : Rather weakasyet all round; is too fondof slogging. WellingboroughG r a m m a rSchool. B A T T I N GA V E R A G E S .-M A S T E R S . I n n s. R u n s. M o s t in a nI n n s.
