Very reliable bat and useful manin the long field , his catches throughout the season being very good . L. de Montezuma : A good and pretty bat, and verypromising bowler. H. F. Paterson : Long-stops well , but requires moreconfidence in batting . J. Mascall : With practice will makea good bat; very sure catch , and generally goodfield . F. Evans : Hits hard, but is lazy in the field . R. Gee : Hasbowled well , and also batted very well this season ; his defence showed improvement , and his driving was as brilliant as ever. J. Eccles : The slow bowler of the Eleven ; very effective on a wet wicket; a sure and quick run-getter . T. J. Gaskin : The surest bat in the team; his de- fence saved and w o nmanymatches. J. E. Ringwood : Did not score this year, but w a sof service at the wicket andin the field ; useful as a change bowler. R. Henfort : Is a hardandsuccessful hitter onhis day, andagoodm a nin the out-field . RuthinSchool.—Matches played , 13 ; won, 8 ; lost , 4 ; drawn 1. ELEVEN IN 1884.-S. E. Owen (Captain , 9.5) : Although he has obtained the highest average , his batting form is muchbelow that of 1883 ; but in the field he is as good as ever , especially at the wicket and at point ; a very popular and successful captain ; should assert himself more. W, L. Wynne(9.2 ) : Still the bowler of the eleven, mediumpace, with sufficient break tobe dangerous ; a painstaking bat , though not a great run-getter ; second best average. W . A. Lewis (5.1 ) : Bowledfast under-hand, and is very fatal on a dead ground; fields at long-leg , andcovers ground rapidly , though not very safe ; hits hard, butrarely troubles the field long. E. Owen (5) : A very good and active field at point a n dcover, never spares himself ; a safe and sometimes brilliant catch ; as a bat he is either too stiff or too free , according to his humour. J. W. Davies (1.7 ) : Continues to batvery stiffly ; deserves to score , as he always plays with care ; a good field at long leg; throws strongly , and without losing time . A. R. Bankart (3.2 ) : His average is most disappointing , as his style is good; does not possess sufficient patience ; has no idea of judging a ran properly ; he is muchbetter in the field ; best and often brilliant at cover-point. W. T. Williams (2.1 ) : Bowled well on one or two occasions ; must take pains and vary the pitch ; ought to do well next season ; slightly improved in batting . J. R. Roberts (4) : Very anxious to excel , but debarred byother pursuits fromdevoting enoughtimeto the game; a very willing field . A. Lewis Richards : Combines stylish withpatient batting ; always makesruns, anda change bowler. J. M. Morris : Adashing aud effective batsman; deadly bowler on a wet wicket . Professor Pheltor : Afair bat and field ; never fails to make runs. E. Rosser : Ahard hitter , and usually lucky. J. M. Lewis : Avery good and successful bowler ; has taken most wickets during the season . J. Edwards: Agoodall-roundm a n; hastakensecondaveragebowlingduringtheseason. E. M. Rowlands : Hits freely ; our most reliable fielder . S. Morgan: A fair bat, open to improvement. St. George's School, Brampton, Hunts. First Eleven :-Matches played, 16; won, 9 ; drawn, 1 ; lost , 6. Second Eleven:-Matches played, 3 ; won, 3 ; drawn, 0; lost , 0. Uniform, white, blue coat and sash, blue cap with badge of St. George and the Dragon. Rev. H. R. Wiz : Fair bat; sharp field near the wicket ; a first -rate slow bowler , as his average shows . Mr. R. G. Norris : Sure bat, with good hitting powers ; excellent wicket-keeper . Mr. J. C. Prior : Goodbat, but too eager to score ; excellent fast bowler, with an easy action . Mr. J. H. Gill : A free , hard hitting bat ; brilliant field ; good slow bowler , with a break from the off . Mr. J. L. Strachan : Agood fast bowler , but hasbeenunlucky this year as a bat. S. M. Stanley : Hasmademarvellous strides as a bat, andhas on several critical occasions played valuable innings ; fair field ; has by the examplehehas set improved the cricket generally , and madean excellent Captain. w. M. Willis : Hard-hitting bat, but weakin defence ; safe field ; bowled well at the end of the season . A. Ringrow: Mostreliable bat, with safe defence ; has not fielded up to his. last year's promise . H. De C. Wetherall : Has improved as a bat , and generally managesto score ; should try to play a morescientific game; good throw andcatch; has bowled well throughout . P. S. C. More : In practise plays in good style and correctly , but in matches failed to score , through lack of confidence ; fairly good in the out-field . L. W.
