H. Horsley : Has madea fairly good captain ; has improved very muchas a bat; hits hard on the off : excellent field , with good return . H. Burgess : Asteady and reliable bat ; drives cleanly , andis brilliant in cutting ; excellent judge of a run; good field at point . E. A. Bain- bridge : Agood steady bat; has improved greatly ,but does not hit hard enough; excellent field anywhere; a good changebowler, butnot so successful as formerly . W.F. Moulton : H a sfallen off in batting , still weak on the leg ; has come out as a slow bowler with moderate success ; a very fair field , but weakin the return . F. G. Whitworth : Afine bat, drives andhits to leg well, but should learn to cut ; a good change bowler; has greatly improved in fielding ; throws in remarkably well . T. Lindley : Afine bat, hits very hardon the on; very uncertain field , best in the slips ; good bowler, varying in success , with mediumoff -break. J. S. Brown : Avery goodandpatient bat; hits hard all round; neat field , especially along the ground, butthrough an accident unable to throw in well . P. S. Beves: a goodandsteadybat, especially onthe on-side, butdoesnot m a k ethe mostof his strength ; slow but sure in the field ; throws in well . J. R. Buckley : A steady bat, with style of his own: bad judge of a run ; very poor field . W. Smith: Good fast bowler, but erratic in pitch ; slow field ; his innings are brief but interesting . A. H. Pearce : Very promising left -handbowler,withleg break ; good field , but poor bat. LondonInternational College .--Matches played , 20 ; won, 8 ; drawn , 4; lost, 8. ELEVEN IN 1884. Evanson : A very good bat ; possesses great hitting power, scoring very quickly off loose bowling ; as a bowler he is very fast ; anexcellent field . B. Thomson : A very good straight bat, andhas improved very much since the beginning of the season ; has played some very good innings ; hits very hard to leg, and towards theendof the season played off balls equally well ; has helped with the bowling con- siderably ; also a fair field . E. Hecht : A nexcellent long-stop andgood all-round field ; as abatsmanhehas improved very muchsince last season , and has seldom failed to score . W . Holman: A good bat whencareful ; would have improved much more if he had taken more pains in practice ; would makea good field and bowler if not so careless . R. A. Currie : Agood bat, seldom fails to score , but rather too fond of getting away fromhis wickets ; if he had not been so careless in practice would have improved much m o r e; very lazy in the field , anddoes nottry to improve. R. Horsfield : A verym u c h improved bat,playing more freely than last season , while still keeping a very straight bat ; has also bowled very successfully , keeping a difficult length to play ; worked hard as captain, and materially helped towards the success and improvement of the team. E. Burke : A fair bat ; hits well to leg ; has been very careful in practice and improved verym u c hsince the c o m m e n c e m e n tof the season, butis a little too stiff ; wouldscore
