Guy (Capt .) : Very goodbat, perhaps a little too fond of hitting to leg ; takes the wicket well ; sure catch , and all round the best manin the team. A ninjured finger prevented him playing in the last six matches. H. C. Newbery Bats in very good form, cutting well at times ; a fair wicket-keeper, andgood field . H. Guy: Medium-pace bowler, very straight , with good breakfromoff ; a good and very useful bat ; also a safe field . H. W. Bowker : Very fast bowler, pitches his balls rather short , butgenerally comes off well, and has been of great service to the team; a fair field , and moderate bat. E. H. Whitley : Very fair change bowler; with care and morepains would makea very good m a n; also a useful bat, but moderate field . R. E. Walker : Avery steady andpromising left -handbat, but not sharp enoughin fielding . M. J. Eustace : Verypromising bat, with gooddefence ; usually fields wella n dhas m a d eseveral very fair catches. J. W .Bonner: I nthe Elevenmostlyfor his fielding ; is a very good long stop ; in spite of his size , bats very fairly at times . L. E. Kirwan: Verygoodbowler, left -handed, with good length ; fair field , but needs more practice in batting . J. S. Eustace : Makesa very fine point ; sometimes batting in very good style ; altogether a very promising youngplayer. R. H. Deane: Hasnot played in all the matches ; will , with practice , makea useful bat; generally to be relied on in the out-field as a sure catch . F.
