Harrison : Very fair bat, though not so successful as last year : bowled well at times ; good field ; has made a good and energetic captain . *P. Coles : Brilliant bat, with first -rate defence , has scored well throughout the season ; good change bowler , fairly fast ; sure field ; played a splendid innings at Lord's . *H. E. Cobb : Fell off decidedly in batting ; sharp field at point . *G. Bowden -Smith : Powerful bat , especially good to leg ; good out-field and safe catch . E. H. F. Bradby : Hits hard, with very fair defence ; abrilliant field at cover point : bowled very well in the last few matches ; Cap- tain for 1885. *H. Highley : Good steady bowler , fairly fast ; good bat at times ; has played some fine innings ; fair field . *C. C. Mott : A very steady bat, in- clined to play forward too much ; kept wicket very well latterly ; has scored well throughout the season . *W. Barbour ; Very good bat , his late cuts being especially fine ; fair slow bowler at times ; moderate field . *C. E. Higginbotham : Hard-hitting bat, with poor defence ; smart field . *A. A.
