Gellibrand (Capt .) : Has played far better cricket this year ; did not have much luck with the bat , though he played one splendid innings ; has bowled very fairly ; a good field anywhere. *G. C. Hare: Hasnot improved in style , but has nearly always made runs ; a hard- working field , and good catch . E. J. Bidwell : Perhaps the most improved man in the eleven ; has kept wickets with great success ; hits extremely well , and is good at a pinch (Capt . 1885. ) H. N. Paine : Has bowled very well throughout the season ; mustnot mindbeing hit ; a good field and hard-hitting loose bat. V. S. Menzies : The best bat in the eleven , playing in good style and hitting well all round ; slow in the field , but safe catch . A. D. Humphry: Anice bat, but weak on the leg side ; first -class field , with plenty of dash. H. W. Haig : Un- fortunate bat, though he has good form ; uncertain field . *H. L. Brooksbank : improved bat, and neat field ; bowls very straight , with a pretty action . *F. B. Hearn : Fair bat , but totally wanting in energy ; most depressing field . А. В.
