Toppin : A very successful bat and bowler, being of great use to the College in every department . hits hard and withjudgment ; a capital fast bowler , very deadly on his day ; a safe field . H. Hanmer: A brilliant bat, scoring rapidly whenset , though perhaps a little too fond of a hit ; a useful change slow bowler. and an excellent cover -point . being able to return the ball with either hand, C. A. Smith : vide University Eleven . E. Fisher (Captain ) : Hardlyplayed up to his last year's form, either as a bat or bowler, but was still of great use to the eleven ; fast bowler ; was rather unfor- tunate as a bat, though whenset maderuns quickly ; as captain showed excellent judgment . J. S. Grenfell : A very steady bat, playing in good style ; has done some brilliant things at point , and can take the wickets . L. W. Reed : As a bat has improved in run -getting , but too often indulges in a pull when attempt- ing to hit : fair field . A. Y. Baxter : Fair bat ; moderate field . S. W. Stevens : Played only a few innings ; has improved in batting and bowling ; was of some use as a bowler , with slow " ticers ." A. H. Sharman : Has fallen off somewhat , continually obstructing the wicket with his leg ; if he would cure himself of this habit would be a fair bat ; safe field . P. A. Robin : Has been disappointing as abat considering his last year's form, perhaps owing to wantof practice ; still useful at the wickets . H. Ward: A fair slow bowler, for which he obtained his place in the eleven ; poor bat, moderate field . O X F O R DU N I V E R S I T Y . OFFICERSFOR 1884.- Captain , M. C. Kemp (Hertford). Hon.
