W. Bainbridge : The best all- roundm a nin the eleven ; a good steady bat, and capital leg-hitter ; a fast though somewhaterratic bowler, and a first -class field in the country . J.E.K. Studd: A most painstaking captain , but had a very poor teamto support him; wasnot in quite sogood form as last year with the bat, but workedas hard in the field as ever . C. W. Rock : A most peculiar batsman , but very difficult m a nto get rid of, as the Oxonians found out ; has any amount of patience , and plays very straight ; a fair change bowler . C. W. Wright : Kept wicket fairly onvery trying wickets ; did not bat up to his last year's form, and wants a lot ofpractice to slows . P. J. de Paravicini : Did not bat as well as in previous years ; is a beautiful field anywhere and never gets tired ; a most cheerful companion in a long day's outing . F. Marchant : Has never fulfilled his Eton expectations ; must get rid of his nervousness before he can attain honours as abatsman; a beautiful field and thrower . J. A. Turner : Good field and fair change bowler; bats in good style , but very nervous at starting . Hon. J. Mans- field : Wasquite out of form this year , being unable to give any time to prac- tising ; good field , especially at point . D. G. Spiro : Played at Lords at the last moment, a capital field and dangerous bat when set , hitting hard all -round . H. G. Topham: Bowled well (left ) all the year considering the hard drywickets , but should vary his pitch and pace more. C. A. Smith : Agood right -handed bowler, and workedhard all the season . Improvedin his batting after he left Cambridge ; good field anywhere. C L A R EC O L L E G E , C A M B R I D G E . H o nSec.: A . J. J a m e s o n. R e s u l t sof M a t c h e s.
