James Lillywhite's Cricketers' Annual 1885
T H ECOUNTIESIN 1884. 1 1 3 (2) Gentlemenv. Players. July 3, 4, and 5. The Gentlemen had a very poor eleven , and at the outset the odds were all in favour of the Players . Lord Harris , H o n. A. Lyttelton , and Messrs. A. G. Steel , C. T. Studd, and Christopherson were all away, so that the game w a srobbed of most of its interest . Ulyett played very good cricket for the Professionals , and his 134 was indeed the one redeeming feature of an un- expectedly disappointing display of batting . Mr. W. G. Grace batted in his mostapproved style for his 35 (not out) and 66, and Mr. A. P. Lucas also did himself justice in the second innings . In this Barlow got three wickets- those of Messrs. Grace, Shuter, andRead, with successive balls . Score :- P L A Y E R S .
