Maynard, in addition to William Mycroft away, was very poorly represented , and, in con- sequence , suffered a decisive defeat . The tail of the Lancashire eleven contributed mainly to the long total of 332, including 30 " extras ," Watson making74 and Briggs 55. Noneof the Derbyshire batsmen could makeany stand against Nash, Barlow , and Crossland except Mr. R. P. Smith , and in his second innings he scored 33 out of 35 madewhile he was in.
