Gentlemen in the country , by writing to J. L., F. & Co. in the winter, canhave Bats selected and kept specially for themso as to be in first -class conditionfor the CricketSeason. R e m i t t a n c e s - J. L. , F. & Co. beg to inform the public that orders from persons unknownto themshould invariably be accompaniedbya remittance to the value of the goods ordered , or, if this is unknown, to the supposed value . Inattention to this particular will be almost certain to cause delay. Anysurplus remittances will be returned on demand, or passed to the credit of the purchaser. In cases where accounts have been opened with Clubs, &c., it is necessary that the order should be signed by the Secretary or other responsible officer . P.O.O. should be made payable at the Chief Office . Clubsdesirous of opening accounts should write us, so that the necessary arrangements may be made. Discountfor P r o m p tC a s hP a y m e n t s - General orders to the amountof £1 andupwards, accompanied by cash , are entitled to a discount of 5 per cent. Alarger discount is nowallowed on orders of higher value (but only whenaccompanied by cash) on the following scale , viz :-Orders to the value of £3 and upwards will be entitled to a discount of 74 per cent . Those of £5 and upwards to 10 per cent ., and those of £10 and upwards to15per cent. N.B.-There are afewgoods whichare unavoidably excepted fromthe special discounts ; but which will be subject to the ordinary rate of 5 per cent . These goods will be marked with a star against the number or class , or will be otherwise specially mentioned. Forthe convenience of Clubs and Gentlemen whomaypurchase goods at various times during the season , paying for each lot at the time of pur- chase, J. L. , F. & Co. , have decided to allow the full discount, as if they had been purchased at one time . It will be necessary , however , for pur- chasers to keep their invoices and receipts , and produce them whenthey claim the discount . N o claims for discount, however, can be entertained after the end of the year in which such goods were purchased .
