Good all-round cricketer ; fast right hand bowler, and free- hitter , but wasnot in his usual formlast season. ELLIS, R. T. A very effective bat, with strong defence ; energetic field ; was unable to play for the Countylast season . GREENFIELD, Rev. F. F. J. (Cambridge). Arun-getting bat ; bowls slow ; did notplay for the County last year. KING, G. L. (Cambridge). Goodbat ; fields fairly ; takes wicket well . LUCAS, C. J. Goodbat and field , and occasional bowler. LUCAS, M. P. (Harrow and Cambridge). A splendid bat ; excellent field ; occasional bowler ; did not play for the County in 1883 . LUCAS, F. M. (Cambridge ) . A fine left-hand batsman , with good hitting powers; requires a little more energy in the field . MCCORMICK, E. J. A promising bat ; occasional right-arm bowler, and good field ; played some good innings last season . N E W H A M, W. One of the best amateur batsmen ; plays in good style , and is a capital field ; can also keep wicket. THORNTON, A. J. Fair bat ; excellent , hard-working field ; bowls slow under- h a n d. TREVOR, A. H. (Winchester and Oxford). A fine punishing bat, with a com- manding style : did not play first -class cricket last year. WHITFELD, H. (Eton and Cambridge ). A good safe bat , and brilliant field ; obtained the highest batting average last season for the County. W Y A T T, G. N. (Cheltenham). Goodbat and fine field ; did good service for the Countylast season . SMITH, C. A. (Cambridge) . Plays for Sussex . Y O R K S H I R E . A C K R O Y D, A. (Uppingham).
