A steady bat ; good on a fast wicket ; not a reliable field ; played excellent cricket for the County throughout the season . W O O D, A. H. Adangerous batsman at times , and a fast scorer whenset ; avery fair wicket-keeper. W Y N Y A R D, E. G. (Charterhouse ). A fine free bat, playing in good style ; a splendid field at cover-point ; played a fine innings at the Oval ; has unfortunately gone to India . L A C E Y, F. E. (Sherborne and Cambridge). A fine useful all -round cricketer ; bats in neat style , and can hit hard ; a good field , and at times effective as a slowr o u n d-a r mb o w l e r. H E R E F O R D S H I R E . B O G L E-SMITH, C. A hard-hitting bat, inclined to hit too much, but comes off whenrequired ; a good long -stop . B R O W N, C. E. W a sin good form both with bat and ball, but unfortunately metwith an accident at the end of the season ; a good straight medium pace bowler , and, when set , a hard free -hitting bat with good defence . D O C K E R, E. Played but little ; a steady bat and can keep wicket . E V E L Y N, E. C. A steady reliable bat and usually makesruns ; a fine field at cover-point , and a useful change bowler. EVELYN, F. L. A fine free -hitting bat, played some good innings during the year; a fine field and thrower , and most energetic as a cricketer . H A T T O N, A. Improved towards the end of the season ; has a nice stroke behindthe wicket, but weakin his defence. JONES, W. A useful addition to any eleven ; can bat very steadily at times ; a very active field , and useful change bowler. MASEFIELD, W. Played but little this season ; a steady bat ; not so useful as abowler as in previous seasons . P U L L I N G, W. D. More useful as H o n. Sec. than as a bat ; hits hard and sometimes makesruns ; a good field , and can bowl slow left a little . SALE, W. T. (Repton). A good bat with pretty style ; a good field anywhere, a n dsafe catch.
