A good steady bat, and safe field . M A Y N A R D, A. E. J. (Harrowand Cambridge). Agood bat, and very good field ; bowls slow round arm; played very good cricket against Surrey at the Oval. SHUKER, A. (Cambridge ). An excellent bat , hits hard ; a good field . SMITH, R. P. Captained the Eleven for eight years . A sound bat, and safe field. W A L K E R, G. G. A capital left -hand fast bowler , and looks like being of use to the County in that department . G L O U C E S T E R S H I R E . B O U G H T O N, W. A. With practice , and a little more life in him, would make a fair cricketer. B U S H, J. A. (Clifton ). A safe wicket-keeper ; not successful as a bat ; did not play for the County last year. CAVE, W. F. (Eton). Afair bat on a hard wicket ; slow in the field , considering that he is sucha fast sprint runner; lacks energy. CRANSTON, J. One of the best, if not the very best, left-handed bat in Eng- land ; played some fine innings last year ; a very fair field . FAIRBANKS, W. (Clifton and Cambridge). Useful all-round, being a neat batandgood field ; ought to play more for the County. GALLOP, H. G. A very good field , with a quick return ; moderate change b o w l e ra n dbat. GILBERT, W. R. Plays steady, sound cricket ; very useful all -round to the county ; is a good field , and at times an effective slow round-armbowler. G R A C E, E. M. Still a very effective bat, with a good eye for hitting , andplays in a style of his own; a splendid field , and even nowhas no superior at point. GRACE, W. G. Still one of the very best batsmen of the day ; hits all -round freely , and times the ball with extraordinary precision ; his bowling has lost some of its spin,; a brilliant field anywhere, and never loses interest in the game ; played a fine innings against Lancashire at the end of the season . GRIBBLE, H. W. R. (Clifton ). Plays good cricket ; a safe field . HAYGARTH, E. B. (Lancing ). A fair wicket -keeper , and good bat on his day. L E A T H A M, A. E. A good field close to the wicket , but not safe in the long- field ; bowls left round medium; a better cricketer than he appeared for the County. M O B E R L Y, W. O. (Rugbyand Oxford). A first -class bat, drives with great power , and hitting well all -round ; a brilliant field . NICHOLLS, G. B. A good straight nearly fast bowler , but with no spin on the ball ; moderate bat ; slow in the field . PULLEN, W. W. F. Afine bat , with a capital stroke just in front of point ; good field ; was hardly as successful last year . SERJEANT, A. Avery fair field ; can hit, but has no defence . TAYLOR, E. J. (Rugby). A fair bat and field , and not to be despised as a wicket-keeper, though, unfortunately , his hands will not stand it long. TOWNSEND, F. A first -rate batsman , with good hitting -power all round , but didnotcomeoff so muchas usual last year ; a fine field ; at times a successful " lob" bowler. VIZARD, W. O. (Clifton ). A very good bat on a fast wicket with forward play ; Je butnotm u c huse on a slow wicket; is slowbut safe in the field . P E A K E, E., and H. V. PAGE(Oxford). Played for Gloucestershire .
