Hobbs a hard hitter , though uncertain bat, but has sometimes made runs whenmost needed; as a bowler has not fulfilled the expectations formed of him last season , though hehasbeensuccessful at times ; a fair field . G. K. Heath : an uncertain bat, too cramped inhis forward play, being too eager to hit at well -pitched balls ; has done most of the work inthebowling department during the season , and ought to be very good next year. H.S. Lovibond : a poor bat, muchtoo tond of applying a horizontal bat to a straight ball ; a tair bowler, being successful on one or two occasions ; agood held at long-leg ; nas left . H . G. Papillon : has only played in two matches, andhas been very disappointing ; is too fond of hitting , and has not much idea of playing forward ; a brilliant heid , and extremely sure catchat long-leg. L. R. Jacobs , 83 (14.13 ) : a very steady and good bat ; scored consistently throughout the season ; a fair field . R. J. Hutchinson , 82, 83 (12.11 ) ; at first scarcely showed his real form, but later onbatted most brilliantly ; fields weli , and provedhimself a most effective bowler. H. R. Dixson , 82, 83 (10.13 ) : a hard hitting and attimes a most successtul bat ; a fair change bowler ; lazy in the field . F. H. Gossage, 81, 82, 83 (10.3 ) : a very steady bat ; plays in admirable styre , and has greatly improved on his last year's form; has madegreat advance in his heiding . H. E. Crump, 81 , 82, 83 (9.3 ) : avery good bat, but was unable to play much this year ; maintained his old brilliancy in the field . W. A. Harris , 83 (9.3 ) : ahard hitter , though he played but seldom ; a good field atpoint . H. Wade, 83 (8.6 ) : very muchimproved tat ; has long -stopped extremely well throughout the season ; can bowl . A. C. Cook , 82, 83 (7.4 ) : has improved and win still further improve in his batting , but still wants nerve ; at times bowiea very enectively ; a splendid held. A. R. Trimen , 83 (5.5 ) : a disappointing bat ; can fiela very well when helikes . T. W. Fripps , 83 (4.5 ) : a very goou fast bowler ; a sare field and a most brilliant catch ; anunlucky bat ; winner of average ball . J. M. Price - Winiams , 83 (3.1 ) : a very straight and steady fast bowler , and a most consistent field ; moderate bat . Tettenhall College .-No . of members , 80. Ground , Wergs Road , Tetten- hall . McClure , Captain (14): by far the best all -round manin the team, being an excellent medium-pace bowler, a goodsafe bat, andfair field . A. Watkinson (13 ) : a steady and useful bat, and hasscored consistently well ; slack in the field ; change bowler. H. Dickinson (10) : a care- ful,butrather awkwardbat; uncertain in the field , sometimes brilliant . E. B. Lees (10) : avery fair bat, powerful hitter , and moderate field . H. Baldwin (9) : fair bat and held . J. P. Humphries (8) : a rapidly improving bat ; good fast bowler , and splendid out-field ; ought to do well next year. W. Thompson (7) : amoderate bat and held . A. J. Patrison (6) : aneatbat andfair field . S. A. Ashton (5) : pretty bat, but did not come up to ex- pectation ; good change bowler . H. Darwent (11): only played in one or two matches, but hada fair average ; with a little moreattention to piten should makea good bowler. H. T. Dreschfeld (2) : the hardest hitter in the team,butwas most unsuccesstul ; kept wicket withmod ratesuccess .
