Humphreys , Captain (2.7 ) : frequently shows good form in practice , but has added little to his score in matches ; onno occasion hashe bowled as well as last year. W. L. Wynne, Secretary (6.3) : a steady, painstaking bat, and useful bowler, though not well on the wicketatthe beginning of the season , he did good service later ; should follow up his bowling more. W.A. Lewis (4.7 ) : a straight and very effective underhand bowler , never outoftemper; covers ground in the field . W. Wynne(3.5 ) : bats in fair style , but is weak indefence ; ought to be useful as a change bowler, having considerable break. E. Owen (5.9): anuncertain bat, but whenset scores rapidly ; very active and hard-working in the field ; improves in bowling . T. E. Owen (14.3 ) : the mainstay of the eleven , seldom failing toscore ; does not get sufficient practice as a wicket-keeper; a change bowler, andgood long-stop. J. Simon (2.1 ) : a very useful long-stop , andnot afraid of anything ; anxious to do service anywhere in the field . J. W. Davies (2.6 ) : very active at long-leg, throws well and returns quickly . A. R. Bankart (2.5 ) : is gaining confidence and improves in batting , buthis contributions to the score are still small ; ought with practice to be useful asa change bowler . F. Lloyd (4) : w o nhis colours , butdid little afterwards to deserve them; listless in all departments of the game. J. R. Roberts (6) : has not paid muchattention to cricket before this season ; considerably improved in batting ; an energetic andwilling field . SherborneSchool.-ELEVENIN 1883.-J. B. G. H. H. W. Mayo: by far the prettiest batinthe eleven, hitting especially cleanly on the leg side ; has improved greatly during theseason , andought to be really brilliant next year; anuncertain bowler, but asplendid field ,andsure catch inthelong-field . E. A. Nepean : avery steady bat, greatly improved since last season , makingmuchmore use of his hitting powers; a goodbowler, with a great amount of break either way; a fair field . J. S. G.
