Skipwith , Captain (22) : a painstaking captain , but sometimes wantinginjudgment; goodbat,makingthe mostof his reach ; a good field , with quick return ; very fair change slow bowler. H. R. Orr, 2nd Captain (24) : avery goodbat, with pretty style , his cutting being especially brilliant ; very fair defence ; splendid field , with sharp andstraight return ; very fair slow bowler. P. T. Bell (31 ) : a very reliable bat, being a consistent scorer and very hard and clean hitter ; his back-play very hard and good; as wicket-keeper has hardly done himself justice ; winner of average bat. W. P. Braithwaite (7) : has improved as a bat, a little morecareful ; should learn to play without pulling ; awretched field . C. H. Beville (6) : avery erratic bowler,but occasionally effec- tive; hasonly one stroke in his batting , which he tries too often . M. P. N. Hadow(5) : improved all round ,but his forte is fielding , in which capacity he is brilliant , with a quick and straight return . P. Christopherson (9) : at the commencementof the season bowled excessively well, but rather over-bowled himself ; a fast bowler , with very little break; batswithgreat freedom, but lacks patience ; moderate field . B. Trydell (8) : has improved bothas abat and field ; hits hard. R. A. F. Orr ( 10) : if only a little taller would be a goodbat, as it is he is very fair ; one of the best fields in the eleven , and bowls very fairly sometimes . P. Yardley (7) : greatly improved ; a very steady bat, but wantswakingupin the field . W. W. Handford (2) : is too stiff to be of muchuse; should learn to throw; a fairfield. BirkenheadSchool. Fisher (9.5 ) :very useful bat,andplayed more than one good innings ; fast underhand bowler ,often successful ; fair field . S. S. Allen (6.1 ): good point ; improved inbatting towards the end of the season . H.M. Beausire , Captain (13.1 ) : batted ingood form at practice ; would have mademore runs if he had greater hitting powers ; good and safe field ; can keep wicket a little . E. R.Beausire (11.49 ): a pretty bat, with goodhitting powers ; good left -hand slow bowler ; veryneat field . C. W. McAndrew(7.1 ) : did not quite come up to expectations with the bat; very successful with his medium-pace bowling . F. B. Pownall (4.1 ) : disappointing bat,buthada good stroke on the off -side ; good long stop. E. V. Everard (6.9) : big hitting bat, without defence ; good out-field andcatch, andcovered a lot of ground. A. Munro(3.7) : moderate bat; poor field . D. Stewart (5) : has very good ideas of cricket , bothwiththe bat andin the field ; rather sleepy . A. B.
