Kitto , 1881-82-83 (Capt.) : very good bat atbeginning of season , but fell off greatly ; fair bowler and field . *M. F. Reid, 1881-82-83 : very fair field , but perhaps not so good as last year ; greatly im- proved in batting . *A. S. Blair , 1882-83 : began the season badly, but turned outthe mainstay of the eleven ; a high-class bowler on anything but a spongy wicket , and a bat with fair attacking and great defensive powers ; a fair field , but might improve in this , as well as in judgment of runs. W. P. Gornall , 1882-83 : fell off greatly towards the end of the season ; a fair field , with an excellent return ; a useful lob bowier. L. R. Paterson , 1883 : has an excellent defence , and cuts well : improved, but still slow in fielding and running betweenwickets . A. Pearson , 1883 : has the best style in the eleven , and is a very good bat for his size and strength ; will make a good field . J. N. K y d, 1883: a very hard hitter ; improved in defence ; a weak field ; can sometimes bowl. G. Paton, 1883 : a straight but unsuccessful slow bowler ; gets runs sometimes in a style of his own. A. S. Park, 1883 : a good long-field and improving bat. *F. A. MacFarlan, 1883 : a very slow bowler ; sometimes success- ful; an indifferent bat and field .
