Kearsey (Capt.) : a really good left -hand bowler, medium pace , especially dangerous on a fast wicket ; punishing bat, with good off -drive ; most successful as a Captain , with thorough knowledge of the game. *B. W. Spilsbury : most useful bat, hits hard, and has strong defence ; good field , and sure catch *F. E. Saunders useful all round m a n; painstak- ing bat, and plucky wicket -keeper . Hon. C. G. Bruce : dangerous batsman when set, cutting well and hitting hard and low to leg ; erratic , but useful fast bowler ; poor field . F. G. J.Ford: perhaps the best bat in the team ; plays in very good style , and can hit freely ; promising left -hand bowler ; muchimproved in the field ; with care ought to become quite first -rate . L. G. B. J. Ford : brilliant bat on his day, but too fond of hitting ; improved in fielding , and likely to become a useful fast bowler ; Captain for 1884. *C. A.
