Marchant : a very brilliant and effective batsman, and hits magnificently , especially to leg ; defence marredby a tendency to play across o nthe leg stump; should yet improve and become first rate ; fair bowler ; good field . F. Thomas : certainly shows promise as a batsman and field ; has a good style and will learn to punish when more fully grown ; neat in the field ; bowls lobs . C. A. Grenfell : strangely unsuccessful with the bat, though possessed of good driving powers and muchperseverance ; a sound wicket- keep; very fond of the game. Hon. A. E. Parker : a vigorous and aggressive fast bowler ; most useful in an emergency at Lord's ; an excellent field and thoroughly plucky cricketer . H. W.
