Robin : has improved very muchon last year's form with the bat ; plays in pretty style and punishes well considering his size ; as a wicket -keeper he has done good service against some very fast bowling . W. H. Garne : a very careful andreliable bat, with an especially good cut ; a smart field at cover -point . E. Fisher : a very successful fast bowler , deadly on his day ; good bat, with taking style and great punishing power, but should study defence a little more. J. H. Izon (Captain) : has not done himself justice on several occasions through nervousness ; whenset plays thoroughly good cricket and hits hard, but should makethe most of his height ; very useful left -hand bowler with a good break fromleg ; energetic field ; has proved an excellent Captain . A. H. Sharman : a steady and promising bat , but lacks punishing powers ; rather slow in the field . F. L. Thompson : has shown himself of such service on one or two occasions with the bat that we could wish he would appear oftener ; fair field at point ; bowls a lob at a pinch . L. W. Reed : a painstaking bat, showing promise for next year ; safe field . W. S. Sherrington : a disappointing bat , plays in good style , buthas failed to make runs ; indifferent field . S. W. Stevens : made very few runs ; too fond of a hit, using a crooked bat to effect it, and therefore not always bringing it off safe field . J. B. Oldham : as a slow bowler, came off occasionally , and is difficult on his day; bad bat ; poor field . O X F O R D U N I V E R S I T Y . OFFICERS FOR 1883.-Captain , M. C. Kemp (Hertford ). Hon.
