Broughton (Capt.) : an excellent captain , having thorough knowledge of the game; good and reliable bat.having a knack of always making runs whenthey are most wanted ; has a neat cut ; fine field at point . F. W. Pawson (Sec.) : smart field at cover -point ; fair bat, with peculiar style of his own. E. F. Chance : safe catch in the long-field ; a free bat with some very good strokes , but rather too anxious to hit ; canbowl. J. M. Luff : fine out-field and thrower ; a good bat, playing very straight , but attended throughout the season by a persistent run of bad luck . F. G. J. Page: hasscored consistently through the season , being a good free bat and a hard anddetermined hitter ; has much improved in wicket-keeping and can bowl at times . H. C. Duthoit : a slow right -handed bowler with a great curl from leg, andonhis dayvery hard to play ; smart field ; uncertain bat. C. E. Lowndes : a fast left-handed bowler, always to be relied on; one of the best bats of the eleven ; excellent field . F. R. Loveband : a straight medium-paced bowler with a slight break from the off ; steady bat, and fair field . T. W. E. Moreton : a good steady batwith very nice style ; reliable long-stop and very smart in the long- field . H. E. Caldecott : a fast right -handed bowler , at times sending in a "trimmer," and a very hard and clean hitter . G. F. England: fair bat ; good field , and useful as a change bowler. Topham(Sec.) : vide University Eleven. G .F. W. Cole : possesses fine hitting powers which he shows whenset ; has not beenas successful this season as last ; a good field and shy ; fair changebowler. C. A. Evors : a most consistent bat, almost always scoring ; a fine field anywhere. P.M. Lucas : agood sound bat, punishes loose bowling severely , and scores con- sistently ; a good point , and can take wicket . H. B. Peele : on his day a most dangerous fast bowler,but very erratic ; a fair bat ; slovenly field . W. N. Cob- bold : a strong bat whenset, especially on the off side , too anxious to score at first ; a good ground field , but uncertain catch . H. A. Arnold : a very useful bat, withgooddefence and strong onthe off side ; good field andcatch ; moderate slow bowler. E. M. Forbes : a rapid run-getter on a fast wicket , playing hard and straight : a good out field . C. H. Moline : a good slow bowler , improved greatly towards the end of the season ; hits with more energy than discretion ; slack in the field . G. Mirehouse : if he was not afraid of pitching them up a bit more, wouldbe a very good mediumpace bowler ; plenty of break back; has bowled withgreat success ; moderate bat, but very smart field .
