The ground was so heavy from recent rains that scoring wasdifficult , and with twenty-three in the field the Colts had all the best of the game. Mr. G. F. Vernon (13 and 25) alone got over ten runs in each innings for the Club . For the Colts G. Jackson of Surrey (6 and 19) was the highest scorer . There was not a double figure in their first innings . Thebowl- ing of Henryof Middlesex (fast round left ) was the most successful . H e took six wickets for 22 runs. T h eColts w o nby72 runs. Colts 78 and120, total 198. M.C.C. 40 and 86, total 126. Morley's bowling for the Club was the feature of the match.
