Steel and W. S. Patterson scored 256 runs in two hours. Mr. G. B. Studd for Trinity College , Cambridge v. Mr Richardson's Eleven , scored 289 out of 357. For Probus School , Present v Past , P. P. Tyacke made 71 out of 102 , and for Probus School v. Truro School , 62 out of first 81 scored . On May 20th , for Vine v. Grosvenor Road, at Oval, J. Hearsum hit two successive balls for eight. In a match at Cambridge , for Caius v. Emmanuel College , C. E. Broughton and G. C. Fitzgerald went in first , and at end of day were still in, the score , 353; each batsman159. Messrs . J. E. K. and G. B. Studd made 163 for the first wicket of Cambridge University v. M.C.C. and Ground, at Lord', s o n June 20th . Messrs . W . H. Patterson and E. F. Tylecote scored 100 for first wicket of Kent v. Surrey , at Oval , August 2nd. Score for Last W i c k e t. -Messrs . A. C. Cattley and M. W. Marshall , for Esher v. Horsham, put on 126 for last wicket, scoring 118 in a nh o u r. Small Scoring.- O nJuly 8th , for Lancashire v. Notts , Barlow was intwo hours and a half , for five runs . In Rossall School's innings of eleven v, Loretto School , the eleven runs were got in eight hits . Messrs . McPherson and Corlett (Lake Bolac ) played a single wicket match for the Championship of the District . It was not decided one way or the other , as Corlett scored 0 and 0 (caught each time ) McPherson 0 and 0 (bowled by Corlett each time) . O n July 24, for Post Office v. Britannia Works, Alderly made13 out of innings of 15. ForLancashire v. Notts, at Notting- h a m, Barlow was in an hour and twenty minutes for eight in the first innings , in the second, two hours and a half for five . In the same match, at Liverpool , he was at the wickets two hours and a quarter for 44, in the second , five hours and a quarter for 49. The following story comes fromRepton. T w ohouses started to play a match. One went in and the first two batsmenscored 102 and 101 respectively without losing their wickets. After this , it wasdecided by the batting side to allow the other side to go in. Theydid so , and all got out for 8 ; they followed on, and again got out for 8. Thefirst side wonby287 runs and 20 wickets . For Priory Park College v. Downside College , F. Stewart got all twenty runs made in innings , ten batsmen failing to score . CarryingBatThroughInnings.-J. C. Corlett , for Lake Bolac 2. Wickliffe , went in first and carried bat right through innings for 24 out 58, and went in first in second innings , and was not out for 37 out of 68 required to win the match .
