Cankeep wicket well , and is a promising bat. W E L M A N, F. T. Agood wicket -keeper and reliable bat. RAMSAY, R. C. (Harrow and Cambridge ). Plays for Somersetshire . S U R R E Y . AKROYD, S. H. (Radley) . A brilliant batsman , and very difficult to dismiss if allowed to get set ; a safe field ; does not play at all for his county. CATTLEY, S. W. (Eton). Improved considerably in his cricket all -round last season ; has good defence ; showed a great advance in his fielding , which wasvery smart. C L A R K E, C. C. A splendid field ; at times successful as a slow round-arm bowler, and plays in good form, though he has not come off for the county. C L A R K E, M. C. A very steady bat ; fair field . C O L M A N, S. Hits freely , but lacking in defensive -powers ; not reliable in t h efield. GAME, W. H. (Sherborne and Oxford ). A batsman with a style of his own, but hits hard, and is very dangerous if allowed to get set ; a fine long- field , with a sharp throw in. H O R N E R, C. E. (Cheltenham and Oxford). A very useful fast round-arm bowler, of great service to the county ; moderate bat and field . LINDSAY, W. (Winchester ). Agood bat, with a pretty cut ; a splendid field , and a sure catch ; did not play muchlast seascn . LUCAS, A. P. (Uppinghamand Cambridge). One of the very best cricketers of the day ; plays correct and admirable cricket in perfect style , with wonderful defence , and hits perhaps a little more than he used ; a useful slow round-arm bowler, and fine field ; might be keener about County Cricket ; played for England v. Australia . PARFITT, J. J. A fast round-armbowler, getting up quickly fromthe pitch ; at times comes back a good deal ; fair field ; played rarely last year. POWELL, E. O. (Charterhouse and Cambridge ). "Plays in good style , but too small to be of great service ; fair field . R O L L E R, W. E. (Westminster andCambridge). Avery useful all -round player ; is a reliable bat, driving very hard ; safe in the field ; a very fair change b o w l e r. READ, W. W. A very fine bat , playinglayi very straight and improved much in hitting of late ; made some large scores for the county ; can also take w i c k e twell. SHUTER, J. (Winchester ). A pretty bat, playing hard on the off-side ; played some very fine cricket , particularly in the later matches ; a splendid field.
