B O R R O W E S, Capt. (Cheltenham). Afirst -class wicket -keeper , but has not batted for Middlesex up to his A r m yform. COTTRELL, C. E. (Harrow) . A useful bat, scoring freely at times ; bowls fast round, at times effectively . FORD, A. F. J. (Repton and Cambridge ). A very useful all -round player ; bowls with very high delivery , andis very effective whenwicket keeps in any way; bats well, andcanhit hard ; excellent field at slip ; played little last y e a r. F O R D, W. J. (Repton and Cambridge). A powerful hitter , greatly excelling in forward drives ; can bowl a little ; did not play for the County last season . LYTTELTON, Hon. A L F R E D(Eton and Cambridge). The best amateur wicket- keeper of the day, standing well up and rarely missing a chance ; a very dangerous batsman , having defence as well as hitting powers ; played for Englandv. Australia . v. LYTTELTON, Hon. E. (Eton and Cambridge). A fine free hitting bat, very dangerousw h e nwell set ; a good field nearthe wicket. O'BRIEN, T. C. Successful bat in second -class matches ; has considerable hitting p o w e r. PEARSON, T.S. (Rugbyand Oxford). Not a stylish bat, but usually to be relied on for runs ; a fine field anywhere, but has no superior at point ; bowls slow round, andgets a wicket at times. ROBERTSON, J. A straight fast bowler with high delivery ; hits hard ; uncer- tain in the field ; did not play so muchlast year. ROBSON, C. (Bruce Castle ) . Bats in neat style , and hits freely ; a sure field . T H O R N T O N, C. I. (Eton and Cambridge). A very hard hitter ,but not so certain as formerly ; is lazy in the field ; plays for Middlesex by residence , but only appeared in one match for the county. T U K E, C. M. Fast bowler , with very questionable delivery ; at times effective , but not very successful for county ; good field . V E R N O N, G. F. (Rugby). A neffective bat,hitting with great vigour , and scoring very fast ; very fine out field ; with a sure pair of hands. WALKER, I. D. (Harrow). A fine batsman , hitting very clean on the off -side ; a splendid field , especially at mid-off ; a good captain and excellent judge of thegame. W E B B E, A. J. (Harrowand Oxford). A batsman with excellent defence , and bats well , cutting very smartly ; played some good innings for Middlesex ; a safe field . WILKINSON, W. C. Gets runs in a peculiar style ; fair change bowler (medium- pace) ; a good field at point . STUDD, G. B., STUDD, C. T., H E N E R Y, P. J. T. (Cambridge), LESLIE, C. F., S H A W, E. D.
