A safe wicket -keeper ; not successful as a bat. CRANSTON, J. Played some useful innings for the county ; a left -handed batsman, and plays most upright for left -hander ; a very fair field . DAY, L. M. Asteady bat , hardly so successful as was expected from his promise of 1880 ; an energetic , hard-working field . FAIRBANKS, W. (Clifton and Cambridge ). Useful all -round , being a neat bat and good field ; did not play for the county last summer. GILBERT, W. R. Plays steady , sound cricket , a very useful all -round to the county ; is a good field , and at times an effective slow round-armbowler. G R A C E, E. M. A very effective bat, with a good eye for hitting , and plays in a style of his o w n; a splendid field , and still has no superior at point . GRACE, W. G. Played with his old effect at the end of the season , hitting all- round freely , and timing the ball with extraordinary precision ; his bowling hadlost some of its spin, though he was, on the whole, very successful ; a brilliant field anywhere , and never loses interest in the game. GRIBBLE, H. W. R. (Clifton ). Plays good cricket ; a safe field . K E N N E D Y, C. M. Very safe bat ; useful wicket-keeper , but slow in field . M O B E R L Y, W. O. (Rugby and Oxford). A first -class bat, drives with great power, and hitting well all -round ; a brilliant field . PULLEN, W. W. F. A very fine bat for a boy, with a wonderful stroke just in front of point ; good field , and will without doubt be a great acquisition to the County Eleven. TA YLOR, E. J. (Rugby) . A fair bat and field , and not to be despised as a wicket-keeper, though, unfortunately , his hands will not stand it long. TOWNSEND, F. A first -rate batsman , with good hitting -power all round , but didnot come off so much as usual last year ; a fine field ; at times a successful " lob " bowler. VIZARD, W. O. (Clifton ). A very good bat on a fast wicket with forward play ; butnot muchuse on a slow wicket ; is slow but safe in the field . PEAKE, E. (Marlborough , Oxford ). Played for Gloucestershire .
