Owen(5) : a good, steady, useful bat; very smart in the field any- where; excellent long-stop ; a safe catch ; with practice wouldmakea goodwicket-keeper. W .L. Wynne (Secretary , 4.9) : a painstaking bat ; improved very much, as the season advanced ; as a bowler, always well on the wicket, and most useful to the eleven in all thedepartments . A. C. Evans (3.2) : plays well with the wrists ; too careless to excel as abat ; smart and active in the field . R. M. Davies (3.2) : at first gave promise of turning out well as a bat, but fell off unaccountably ; a safe catch . W. A. Lewis (2.8 ) : ought withhis long reach to makea slashing bat, but owing to defective early training , rarely scores ; as a bowler, is very successful on a dead ground, and on several occasions took wickets, whenothers failed . J. W. Davies (2.7 ) : very stiff at first , but improved im- mensely; studies defence ; very unfortunate in run-getting ; as a field , covers a great dealofground; takes long-leg, and loses no time in returning the ball . W. Wynne(2.3) : stands well at the wicket, and bats in good style would no doubt have scored ,hadhe cultivated defence more; a promising change bowler, and a hardworking long-stop . W .P. Arthur (18.4 ) : a good bat, swift bowler and wicket -keeper ; in fact , agoodall-round m a n. Hasperformed his office of Captain ina w a ywhich has gained the esteem of his team.-L. Gunn (13.8 ) : a good steady bat, can hit whenhe likes ; handles the ball well, having avery high delivery .-A. Medhurst (9.6) : a good medium-pace bowler ; has fallen off inbatting since the commencementof the season.-F. Farren : a sharp field and fair bat ; butwoulddo well to play a little more forward.-F. Thomas; a capital bat, but most unfortunate ; throws well , but sometimes wide of the mark.-J.Bereiro : a good wicket- keeper, and pretty bat ; but begins to hit freely before he is set.-W. Wallace : a nice little bat; never misses a leg ball ; is sometimes leg before whentrying to get his favourite hit.-F. Barlet : acapital long-stop ; seldom lets the ball pass ; but whenhedoes, is unable to overtake the leather quickly , owingt o his weight .-E. Mallon : is able to tire any bowler,butscores slowly ; is a sharp field , and can long-stop very fairly -E. Holliday : a good long -field ; throws in splendidly , but a poor bat.-E. Enriquez : a promising player ; butas yet a novice at the game; wasput in the eleven for his bowling.
