J. Eccles : hasbeen pretty successful in the bowling line , but his batting has not been so good as last year's ; special praise is due to his remarkable fielding at slip . R. Duckworth : a hard-hitter , and at times a fair field ; muchroomfor im- provement . W. B. James ; has shown much improvement all round , his fielding in the country being quite a feature of the season . A. C. D. Collins : is slow in run-getting ,but has undoubtedly the best style of cricket in the team ; his fielding has been very fair . S T. E.Hodder: goodbat,but loses his wicket often from slogging ; a magnificent field at point ; goodbowler on his day. J. E. Vaughan : a very fast bowler, and with a wicket to help him very effective ; has not come off as a bat. J. G. Hodges : amagni- ficent bat, especially strong to leg ; brilliant field anywhere ; the wicket-keeper ofthe Eleven. W.J. Bell : a splendid medium-pace bowler, varying pitch and pace with judgment ; steady and stylish bat. S. W. Robinson (Sec.) : good, thoughugly bat, making his runs after a fashion of his own; a safe longstop . V. F. Allen : a hard-hitter , generally getting some runs ; good field . A. O. Bell : a useful man to go in first , always staying in and making some runs. W . S. Scott : a weakbat, though painstaking ; weak in the field . F. Woolsey : weakbat; good field . R. C. B.
