Keyworth (14.4 ) : has been fortunate enough to carry off the average bat this year ; can punish loose bowling severely , but is unable to play fast ; generally fields at cover-point . L. H.Lowe (4.5 ) : in batting he keeps a good straight bat ; has gooddefence , and always ready to steel a run ; bowls at times ; a fair field . W. H. Mason (4.13 ) : afair bat, but is slow between the wickets ; a very good medium-paced bowler , keeping well on the wicket ; has by far the best bowling analysis . M. E. Epton (9) : inbatting makesruns in the same style as Keyworth; has the second best average . G. Bonner (4.4 ) : bats in good style ; will makea good cricketer ; has gooddefence , and long-stops very well. H. Watney (4.6) : A ttimes bowls well ; afair bat, and a safe catch . H. H. Williams (5.9 ): bats better in homematches than foreign ; has made some good catches this season . F. S. V. Kennedy (2-5 ) : a moderate bat, very frequently caught out at slip ; is a good fielder at point . A. Trafford (4.4) : a good bat with good defence ; can wicket-keep well ; better at stumping than catching the ball at the wicket. W. Cooke (60.8 ) : by far the best all-round player in the Eleven, being a splendid bat with good defence , and great hitting -powers ; also the best bowler , varying pitch and pace with great judg- ment; a fine field anywhere , especially at the wickets . J. A. Burke (20-5 ) : a very steady and painstaking bat ; strong on both off and leg , combining good defence with excellent hitting -power ; a good field anywhere, especially at point . W. M. Rorison (16.6 ) : a very steady and safe bat, rarely failing to score ; agood out-field , has wonderfully improved since last season . A. Simond(15.6 ) : a powerful and good bat, but rather too anxious to score ; a first -rate bowler onhis day, but too early discouraged when hit . H. R. Ladell (11.7 ) : a greatly improved bat , has frequently scored this season ; driving on the off , and cutting well ; a hard-working field . S. A. Barff (11.3 ) : the best field in the team; an uncertain , but greatly improved bat ; a change bowler with great pace. A. W. Blake (7.6 ) : has proved an excellent and popular captain ; scores very quickly whenweil set ; hitting with great freedom, but has scarcely done him- self justice this season ; hard-working and quick field . A. Godwin (7.5 ) : a steady bat, but lacks feeedom ; has rendered good service at long-stop . Н. Н. Butterworth (5.9 ) : a very uncertain bat, too fond of forward play ; a goodbut rather showy field . W. F. Cook (4-6 ) : a promising , but somewhat nervous bat ; improved towards the end of the season ; needs energy in the field . F. C. Smith (2.7 ) : a fast left -hand bowler ; can be very dangerous on his day ; owing to unavoidable absence , has fallen off in batting .
