Bowden (12.92 ) : good all round cricketer , has kept the wicket all the season , at which position he is first-- class , and at times is without an equal in any Eleven ; his batting has muchim- proved, but must still practice to play hard on the ball ; a good change bowler . C.P. E. Cheffins (10.23 ) : a good bat, will improve if he takes care and learns to playthe ball harder ; is somewhat nervous , but this will wear off ; mustexert himself morein the field and try and stop runs ; can keep wicket . H. V. Doul- ton (16.69 ) : first -class bat ; hits hard on the off -side , and plays the gamesoundly and correctly ; a very fair field , and change bowler . A. P. Douglas (5.54 ) : a very pretty and effective bat ; taking great pains in the game all round, is sure to improve his average ; must attend to judging his runs ; smart field , quick return ; the long-stop of the team, which position he has filled with great credit . W.M . Douglas (18.66 ) : a good bat should , however, try to time the ball better ; did notbowl up to expectations ; a slow field ; obtained the average bat. C. K. T. Jones (1.90 ) : a first -class medium-pace bowler , the ball getting very fast from thepitch ; splendid field off his own bowling ; must practice batting , having a free style , should improve. P. T. P. Knott (9.9 ) :: a very steady and reliable bat, should stand up and play the ball harder ; a very good point , and is sure to improve his average ; must try and judge his runs better . A. F. Ladyman(7.5 ) : agood every day fast bowler, and improving bat ; should practice more in the nets ; somewhatslow in the field . A. R. Sharp (1.7) : good all -round cricketer ; captained the team well this season , practising them very frequently together ; a most essential point for young players ; good bat, but should hit moreon the leg-side ; good bowler and wicket-keeper ; should bowl more. J. J. Whiffin (4.35 ) : a good field at long -leg and cover getting well and fast to the ball ; a fair bat with a cramped style , must practice to acquire freedom. C. V. Withers (5.53 ) : a good medium-pace bowler , with high delivery and good break ; splendid and sure field ; bats fairly well and will improve with practice . Professional : W .Shepherd , Surrey . Hatt : has rendered invaluable aid to the club during the past season ; is a brilliant bat, having an average of over 50 ; he is also an excellent fast over-hand bowler, and a good field anywhere. C. C. Mackenzie : has made a most energetic secretary , and has also been captain in most of the matches ; a dashing left -handbatsman, hitting hard to the on; bowls sometimes, andis an improving wicket -keeper . J. Reynolds : is a fair over -hand bowler, and with more wrist action would make a capital bat ; has left . D. R. Murray: has taken both the bowling and batting averages in the school this season ; he is a safe bat andclean hitter , with a pretty style ; bowls mediumpace over-arm, with a lot of work on the ball . A quick and showy field at point . J. Corballis : is a fair bat, with good style and plenty of hitting powers ; bowls fast , with a high delivery ; good thrower ,but slow in the field . C. George : bowls with avery low and somewhat deceptive delivery ; careful bat, and middling field ; has left . J. Macdonald : is a regular " slogger ;" fell off towards the end of season ; bats left -hand and bowls right -hand ; is a safe catch and first -class field , being especially quick at cover -point . F. A. Cary -Elwes : is an energetic manall round ; acareful and painstaking bat, but scarcely hits hard enough ; should practice fielding more. C. Smith : is a steady bat with a style of his own; bowls slow over -arm with a good twist ; has left . C. Corballis : bats too carelessly ; bowls
