Berry , 1879 , '80 , '81 , '82 : a plain , but sometimes most destructive slow bowler , depending almost entirely onhis field ; afine field at point , and improved as a bat . *G. C Lindsay , 1880 , '81 , '82 : at times a brilliant long field ; as a bat, lacking in defence , but from pluck and coolness , useful in an uphill match. *J. A. Dun, 1880, 81, 82 : the best bat in the eleven , but unlucky in being often run out by his substitute ; a moderate wicket-keeper . R. Č. Kitto , 1881-82 : a good and usually safe field ; wasquite out of form in batting , and unable to play at all towards the close of the season ; Captain for 1883. A. S. Blair , 1882 : fell off towards the end of the season ,but was at one time the best all -round manin the team, being a fair fast bowler ; stiff but effective bat, and a fine field at slip . M. F. Reid, 1881-82 : one of the best long fields ever at the school ; a hard hitter without much defence , W. P. Gornall , 1882 : a sound , steady , bat, and very fair field . *J. T. Mitchell , 1882 : a painstaking and improving bat , though slow in the field . G. Wilson , 1881-82 : at times avery brilliant bat, though somewhat disappoint- ing ; worked hard at his fielding , and thereby just kept his place . T. Н. Henderson , 1881-82 : a fair bat and a good field at point . W. R. B. Latham, 1882 : a difficult bowler , with a good deal of spin ; a tolerable field and improving bat.
