M A R L B O R O U G HELEVENIN 1882.-F. E. Rowe: A sound bat ; generally good for runs ; hits well to leg , and has a pushing off drive ; kept wicket , but with no great success ; a good and judicious Captain ; winner of average bat . K. R. Marley : a free -hitting bat , with good defence ; fair but rather expensive fast bowler , and should pitch his balls up better ; a smart field with a quick return . E. H. Buckland : as a bat was unlucky at the beginning of the season , but improved later ; very good and successful bowler ; both with slow -round and fast underhand ; good field . C. H. Leaf : a capital slow left -hand bowler , breaking both ways ; plucky bat, but fell off at the end of the season ; fields splendidly at point . O. Wynne : a steady and patient bat, but too much afraid ofpunishing loose bowling ; safe field . W. A. Rose : a free bat , able to keep up his wicket and punish loose bowling ; can bowl on his day ; good field . F. H. F
