Cobbold : a strong bat, whenwell set ; hits hard all round , but especially to the off : far too anxious to score off the first ball . Fair field at point , would do much better in the deep field . Was unlucky in having so few of last year's Eleven to support him. *E. P. Spurway : the prettiest bat in the Eleven, his forward play being very good. Cuts beauti- fully . Very steady bat, and usually safe for runs, though he fell off in the middle of the season . Goodfield at long-leg, and throws in well . * T. W. Blenkiron : as a bowler has been very successful throughout the season . Bowls very fast round the wicket , his " yorkers " being especially dangerous . Improved greatly as abat towards the end of the season . Goodfield anywhere. * F. J. Barmby: the best all round player in the Eleven . Good medium-pace bowler, at times very difficult to play. Neatbat, drives hard, especially to the on. Good field in the slips . *E. B. Sewell : played very well at the beginning of the season . Hitsto leg well , but should learn not to hit across at an overpitched ball . Fair field . C. H. Vintcent : a very good left -hand bowler, with a good deal of break from leg. Not much of a bat at present , but likely to improve. Poor field . R. Webber : variable bat, at times playing very well . Cuts neatly . Quick in the field , and throws in well. * L. W. KingHarman: as wicket-keeper has im- proved greatly since the beginning of the season . Poor bat, though with some powers of hitting . E. Cawston : very steady bat, plays straight , but should learn to hit more . Good long -stop . * R. A. Rotherham : fair change bowler on a slow wicket . Neat bat, occasionally making runs . Quick in the field . Rayner: poor bat, sometimes knocking up a few runs . Smart field at cover- point, throwsin well . C H E L T E N H A M C O L L E G E . Captain for 1882 , C. E. Greenway.
