Oakeley : bats in pretty style ; generally gets into double figures , and has good defence ; safe field with quick return . C. A. W. Gilbert : a most brilliant batsman, with fine defence and great hitting powers ; did not get as manyruns as he ought to have done ; superb field ; a moderatewicket-keeper. D. M. Jenkins : showedsomeof his old form in bowling on certain occasions ; has a puzzling break from leg, but is rather short in his pitch , and hardly uses enough judgment ; bats in poor style , but makesa lot of runs ; bad field . G. E. Robinson : vide University Eleven. J. H. Le Messurier : very fair bat, and generally makes runs ; good change bowler withan easy delivery ; poor field . J. J. Huckwell : made a thoroughly energetic captain , and is a good judge of the game ; dangerous bowler, but has the suspicion of a throw ; slight break both ways; unfortunate batsman ; moderate field . O. Jones : a very successful bowler, is very fast but rather plain ; dan- gerous on a bumpywicket ; as a batsman makes runs, but plays in a very cramped style ; fair field . D. Jenkins : moderate bat, with some defence ; in- different field . E. B. H. Jones ; very fair bat , but cannot hit ; poor field . A. M. Evanson : ought to makea good bat ; can hit magnificently , but with onlymoderate defence ; very lazy in the field ; fast bowler. J. E. Evans : very fair bat; moderate field .
