Powell (Captain) : a fine bat, with especially good cut ; safe catch and useful field anywhere. W. A. J. Ford: a very fair fast-bowler, and rapid run-getter on a fast wicket, with a strong off drive. E. G. Colvin : a fine and free hitter, without m u c hdefence; useful with the gloves . E. H. Kelly : a brisk cover-point , but poor catch ; makes his runs smartly , and cuts well. K. Marshall : an uncertain fast -bowler, but deadly onhis day; bats with vigour , but is slack in the field . G. von U. Searle : apainstaking bat with a good defence . Safe field , and bowls an occasional lob with success . E. Impey : a successful slow-bowler , who is not afraid to pitch them up ; scarcely did himself justice with the bat. R. A. Coleridge : hits withmoreenergy than discretion , and bowls a useful yorker . T. W. Little : a fair field at point , and steady bat. H. S. Cautley : a disappointing bat, but very fair long-stop ; inclined to be slack . R. White Thomson : scarcely fulfilled his reputation as a bowler. H. Walter : a poor bat and fair field . S T.
