James Lillywhite's Cricketers' Annual 1882

T H EN E WE X T R AS P R I N G 5 A N T I-C O N C U S S I V EH A N D L E "SPECIALD R I V E R" B A T (F R O W D ' S P A T E N T ). M A N U F A C T U R E D O N L YB Y JAMES LILLYWHITE, FROWD& Co. W eclaim for this Bat several distinct advantages over any other Bat as yet put before the public . Thedriving powerhas been proved to be considerably superior to any other form of cane handle yet known, while " jarring " is almost entirely done awaywith, the Ball flying off the face of the Bat as if shot away, the player feeling nothing beyond the pleasurable sensation (so well known to cricketers ) whena drive is madefrom a good Bat. The durability of the blade must be considerably enhanced by the extra spring in the handle, which necessarily reduces the concussion to the blade. Perhaps not least of the advantages of this Bat is that it is from one to two ounces lighter than if fitted with an ordinary cane handle. This Bat was only patented at the close of last season, but it has been well tested , and has received the warmest approval from many eminent players , both gentlemen and professionals . Every handle is warranted not to break in play , and the finest quality bladeswill be usedin the manufactureof the Bats. Price, from 21/- each. Specially Selected , extra light or h a n d s o m e, 2 5/- to 3 0/- each. N.B. The " Special Driver " handle can be fitted to gentlemen's o w n blades , 10/6 each. CAUTION.
