Once a very fine batsman, possessing great freedom of style , with gooddefence , but has been out of health of late , and lost muchof his form ; cuts smartly, and a good field . Born at Dorking , November 19, 1841. Possessed great patience and fine defence . Took his benefit last year , and was only played in the earlier matches ; one of the surest fields , a safe catch , and good long -stop , and can also keep wicket well . Address -Weston , near Southampton. POOLEY, E D W A R D. Born at Richmond, February 13, 1842. Fine wicket- keeper ; an effective batsman , too, with great powers of hitting .
