(Rugbyand Oxford). Not a stylish bat, but usually to be relied on for ruus ; a fine field anywhere, but has no superior at point ; bowls slow-round, and gets a wicket at times. ROBERTSON, J. A straight fast bowler with high delivery ; hits hard ; un- certainin thefield. ROBSON, C. (Bruce Castle ). A useful addition to the county ; bats in neat style , and hits freely ; a sure field . STRATFORD, A. H. (Malvern). A useful m a n all -round ; a free -hitting bat at times ; an effective slow round-arm bowler ; and a good field . T H O R N T O N, C. I. (Eton and Cambridge). A very hard hitter , but not so certain as formerly ; is lazy in the field ; plays for Middlesex by residence. VERNON, G. F. (Rugby). An effective bat, hitting with great vigour , and scoring very fast ; very fine out-field ; with a sure pair of hands. WALKER, I. D. (Harrow) . A fine batsman , hitting very clean on the off -side ; a splendid field , especially at mid- off ; a good captain and ex- cellent judge of the game. WEBBE, A. J. (Harrow and Oxford ). A batsman with excellent defence , and bats well, cutting very smartly ; played some good innings for Middlesex, but was hardly so successful as in 1880 ; a safe field . WILKINSON, W. C. Gets runs in a peculiar style ; fair change bowler (medium-pace) ; a good field at point. STUDD, G. B. , STUDD, C. T. , FORD, A. F. (Cambridge), and LESLIE, C. F. (Oxford), play for Middlesex. N O R F O L K . BIRKBECK, H. , JUN. (Eton). A punishing bat, with good defence , but ratheruncertainin thefield. CLARKE, E. W. R. (Eton and Cambridge. A good bat, playing in a style of his own; useful field , and a fair change bowler. CRESWELL, C. A. (Radley and Oxford). A useful bat ; plays in good form, but unfortunate during the past season. CURRIE, F. A. (Harrow). A reliable bat ; splendid field in any place , with a fine return. ELWES, G. P. (Radley and Oxford ). Fine free hitter ; quick but rather un- certain field ; fair change bowler. FORTESCUE, A. T. (Marlborough and Oxford). A very good bat, anduseful in the field ; was unable to play for the county last year. JARVIS, A. W. (Harrow) . Steady bat, and useful long-stop . JARVIS, C. J. E. (Harrow). A good all -round cricketer ; safe bat ; fast round-armbowler, and sure field . JARVIS, L. K. (Harrow and Cambridge). Dangerous bat if he gets set , hitting hard and well ; very fine field , with quick return ; sometimes b o w l s lows. K E N N A W A Y, C. L. (Harrowand Oxford). A pretty bat, andgood field at point ; has not played muchfor the County Cricket Club this year. LUDDINGTON, H. T. (Uppingham and Cambridge ). Very fast and straight round -arm bowler , and good field .
