(Uppingham). Useful all -round player ; good fast bowler with nasty delivery ; capital bat and field . O P E N S H A W, . E. (Harrow). A very neat and careful bat , and frequently makes good scores ; is also a good field , especially at cover-point . PATTERSON, W. S. (Uppinghamand Cambridge). A good bat and slow round -arm bowler , with high delivery ; has almost retired from cricket field. R O W L E Y, E. B. A good batsman and drives well, especially to the off ; also capital long-stop ; has retired from county cricket . ROYLE, V. (Rossall and Oxford). An effective and muchimproved bats- man, hitting freely ; is also a brilliant field , especially at cover -point , with a very quick return ; can bowl slow round-armwhenrequired . SCHULTZ, S. S. (Uppingham and Cambridge ). Gets runs and wickets in minor matches, but has not come off for the county ; hits well and bowlsfair fast-round; a b a d field . STEEL, D. Q. (Uppinghamand Cambridge). Is a brilliant batsman, playing in good form, and drives well ; a fair field . TAYLOR, F. (Clifton and Castleton ). A good and steady batsman , but requires a little moreconfidence whenfirst going in ; did not play such good cricket as in 1880 ; can bowl slow round-arm. W O O D, R. (Charterhouse ). A really good and useful player , but unfortu- nately has not the time to render the county much service ; is a left- handbatsmanandbowler, and excels in both. STEEL, A. G. (Cambridge ). Plays for Lancashire . M I D D L E S E X . BULPETT, C. W. (Rugby and Oxford ) . Bowls very fast round -arm, but not always on the spot ; can hit . BUCKLAND, F. M. (Eton and Oxford ). A very straight medium-pace bowler ; a sound bat, with great defensive powers ; did not play for the county last year. COTTRELL, C. E. (Harrow). A useful bat , scoring freely at times ; bowls fast round, at times effectively . FORD, W. J. (Repton and Cambridge ). A powerful hitter , greatly excel- ling in forward drives ; can bowl a little . GREEN, C. E. (Uppingham and Cambridge ). An effective bat, with great certainty of hitting all -round ; a good long-stop . H A D O W, . H. (Harrowand Oxford) . Bowls slow round-arm, very straight with good pitch ; a pretty and effective bat against the best bowling ; has retired from county cricket . HENERY, P. T. (Harrow and Cambridge ). Bats in neat style ; at times useful as a bowler (slow round) ; smartfield . L A W, G. (Radley ). Played for the county on a few occasions ; moderate bat, butgoodfield ; can bowl fast round. LYTTELTON, Hon. ALFRED(Eton and Cambridge). The best amateur wicket-keeper of the day, standing well up and rarely missing a chance ; a very dangerous batsman , having defence as well as hitting powers ; played for England v. Australia .
